The first Newark Traditions Festival – a celebration of dance, music, song and traditional heritage – will take place in and around Newark Market Place on 22nd & 23rd July 2017.
Based in the beautiful and historic market town of Newark in Nottinghamshire, this new festival incorporates many aspects of the cultural heritage that make the East Midlands such a special place to visit. The town, with its castle and iconic market place lies on the River Trent, one of Englands longest and most important waterways.
The festival, enjoying its first year in 2017 will showcase traditional dance, music sessions in some of the historic pubs, song sessions and local folk plays together with historic re-enactment and the excellent market . Visitors can expect a weekend of living heritage in a truly unique setting and will take away memories of a special place at a special time.
Sullivan’s Sword is proud to be dancing at the festival on Sunday 23rd July.
