Plough Sunday with Sullivan’s Sword in Morton and Southwell on 07/01/18


The event will begin at 10:30 with the Plough Sunday service at St. Denis Church, Morton-cum-Fiskerton.

After the service, members of Sullivan’s Sword and friends will perform a selection of traditional music and songs in the church
This will be followed by a brief sword dance performance by Sullivan’s Sword at the village hall (or outside).

Then in Southwell, Sullivan’s Sword will be joined by Ripley Green Garters and Maids of Clifton, to providee displays of traditional dance at The Admiral Rodney from 12:30 to 1:30. At the same time further teams from Greenwood Clog, Lord Conyers Morris Men and Mortimer’s Morris will be dancing at The Hearty Goodfellow. After a break for lunch all six teams will converge at The Final Whistle from 2:30. Sullivan’s Sword will perform the Farnsfield Plough Play, and then all six teams will continue dancing until around 4pm.

This year we are fundraising for Framework, a wonderful charity working to help homeless people, prevent homelessness, and bring opportunities to vulnerable people in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.
